CANNABIS AND CANNABIS OIL IN IBD
With marijuana (cannabis) becoming fully legal in some states, allowed for medical use in others, or with one of its active chemicals, cannabidiol (CBD), licensed as an oil for medical use in the rest, interest in possibly using these products for IBD and for recreational use has increased.
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the chemical in marijuana that gets people high. When THC is eliminated and just CBD is used, CBD has reported anti-inflammatory and immune effects that reduce pain and nausea, increase appetite and improve sleep. And while CBD and / or THC do not treat Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (UC) in humans, some Crohnsies and UCees (those with Crohn's disease and UC) have been able to wean off steroids.
