DELAYING SURGERY FOR IBD CAN BE DANGEROUS
Most people are frightened of having surgery and the recovery. That's understandable. They think about the discomfort, time away from their normal activities and possible complications. But delaying surgery can allow Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis to progress and cause further problems and even more complicated surgery a short time later.
The good news is that after surgery, most patients feel much better and return to a healthier lifestyle. They may be able to lessen their medications and eat a wider variety of foods.
