SubscribeVedolizumab is a biologic medicine that blocks the ability of certain immune cells to increase inflammation in the intestine. In that way, it is useful in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis in adults. It is given IV (intravenous) to those who have not responded or lost response to one or more of the anti-TNF medicines. Side effects can include allergic reactions, nausea, headache, pruritus, dizziness, fatigue, pyrexia, urticaria, and vomiting after the drug is given, infections and possibly cancer, though further studies are needed.
