WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF ADALIMUMAB (HUMIRA)?

The most common side effects of adalimumab (Humira) are

  • Injection reactions, with redness, swelling and stinging. but the new version of the medicine, makes these less likely and less painful  
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Rashes 
  • Upper respiratory infections

Other infections may also occur and these can be severe. you should notify your doctor right away if you are starting to develop any symptoms of an infection, any symptoms that are bothersome or any that continue on. These can include

  • Fever, sweats, chills, aching in muscles or joints 
  • Cough, colored phlegm or blood
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Warm, or red sores on your body
  • Nausea, diarrhea or stomach pain
  • Burning or difficulty when you urinate or increased urine
  • Increased Fatigue 
  • Decreased appetite or weight loss

These side effects are also seen with other antiTNFs. Additionally, patients on these medicines have an increased risk of other serious effects as well.
