WAYS TO GET WATER AND STAY HYDRATED

WAYS TO GET WATER AND STAY HYDRATED

Water is in everything. It makes up 60% of our body and 75% of our brain's mass. Similarly, water is also found in almost every food and drink we consume. Yet, dehydration is very common, especially in IBD.

Water Rich Foods to Add to your Diet:
  • Flavored water (you can make your own, too, by adding slices of cucumber or fruit to the water)
  • Milk and lactose-free milk
  • Milk alternatives:  soy, almond, oat, hemp, cashew, etc.
  • Vegetable and fruit juices (but remember that fruit juice has just as much sugar as soda)
  • Whole fruits like watermelon, oranges, tomatoes, etc. which are high in water, fiber, and nutrients
  • Sports drinks, but watch out for the added sugar!
  • Tea and iced tea
  • Coffee and iced coffee (the extra water makes up for the caffeine as long as you don't overdo the coffee with more than 4 or 5 cups a day)
  • Homemade soup
  • Sugar-free jello
